The Saturday League
Take Back Sundays
The idea for the Saturday League was hatched in the Fall of 2024 after a seemingly endless string of weekends committed to travel baseball and softball. It was then that my wife and I realized our family was worn out, and worse, we had failed to have our two young children in a church pew for almost two months. Weekend after weekend we had played or coached travel ball and this left us little time for anything else, and so we set out to solve the dilemma of reconciling the importance of our children's athletic growth with their need for a day of rest and spiritual growth. They needed time to be a kid. And after speaking with parent after parent, we were hearing the same thing from most of them. They were tired. They were spending obscene amounts of money on travel and hotels. And worse, their kids were beginning to feel the weekly stress of long tournament weekends and high expectations to perform when they could have been focused on developing their skills and forming a true love for the game. The solution: competitive travel baseball on Saturdays! Simple.
Baseball is a beautiful game, and it has provided us with many opportunities and memories. We want the same for each kid who loves the game and desires a future playing the sport.
